SAMSUNG Electronics was sued by a man on Friday after his Galaxy Note 7 smartphone exploded in his front pants pocket.
Following the mishap, Jonathan Strobel, 28 from Florida suffered severe burns on his right leg.
Strobel may be the first Samsung phone user in the United States to go against the South Korean company over a battery defect, news portal The Reuters reported.
The lawsuit was filed a day after Samsung recalled about a million Note 7 sold in the United States.
It seeks damages for his medical bills and suffering.
Strobel was in a Costco store in Palm Beach Gardens when the incident took place.
