A 21-year-old man surrendered himself to the police and admitted that he had killed his wife at a budget hotel in Taman Sentosa here yesterday.
Johor Baharu Selatan police chief ACP Sulaiman Salleh said the man also led the police to the hotel room, in which his wife was found dead with her neck artery severed.
"The man came to the Sentral police station here at 5 pm yesterday and admitted that he had murdered his wife.
"When we arrived at the scene, we found the body of his blood-smeared wife and the knife he claimed to have used to kill her," he told reporters here today.
Sulaiman said apart from her severed neck, police also found two stab wounds on her shoulder and chest.
He said it was believed that incident occurred after the man suspected that his wife was having an affair.
The couple, who hail from Klebang, Melaka, were staying at the budget hotel since Tuesday as the man was planning to find a job in Singapore.
The man, who had no criminal record and tested negative for drug, has been remanded until July 27 to facilitate further investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
