Man threatens to kill daughters after ex-wife refuses to return home for Raya

Disappointed with his ex-wife’s refusal to return to celebrate Hari Raya, a man threatened to kill his two daughters.
During the incident, the 30-year-old man, alleged to be under the influence of drugs was said to be depressed.
In the 5pm incident in Kampung Suang Prai, Menggatal here, the suspect had displayed hawkish behaviour after his cousin had asked him to release his children, aged 4 and 5, from a locked room.
The suspect had reportedly turned aggressive by wielding a Samurai sword to their throats and started to torch the room.
Kota Kinabalu District Police Assistant Commissioner, M.Chandra said the complainant contacted the police before the suspect surrendered himself to the police.
The suspect's children were left unharmed. Further examination revealed that the suspect was tested positive for drugs.
The case is being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder.
