A man suspected of stabbing his ex-girlfriend on Monday near Taman Serindit, Jalan Langgar, here is remanded for a week starting today.
According to Kota Setar district police chief Assistant Commissioner, Mohd Rozi Jidin, the 23-year-old suspect was arrested to aid in the investigation under Section 326 of the Panel Code for causing severe injuries.
In the 5.30pm incident, Hazwani Ismail, 23, was seriously injured after being stabbed in her abdomen by the suspect with a sharp weapon following a heated argument for ending their relationship.
The victim also sustained several cuts to her fingers and left knee but has been reported to be in a stable condition after undergoing surgery in Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital.
The suspect was arrested outside a hotel last night.
