KUALA LUMPUR: A local man was remanded for two days starting today to facilitate police investigations into an incident where a nasi lemak seller and her daughter were intimidated at a stall in Jalan Desa Bakti here yesterday.
Brickfields district deputy police chief Supt Basri Sagoni said the victim's daughter lodged a police report and the 33 year-old-suspect was arrested at his house around Jalan Desa Bakti at 8 pm yesterday.
"The case is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation and Regulation 17 of Measures within the Infected Local Areas (National Recovery Plan) 2021 for violating the standard operating procedure," he said in a statement today.
The media reported that at about 10.30 am last Sunday, both mother and daughter were conducting their business when the incident occurred and was recorded by a customer.
The video which subsequently went viral showed a man scolding and threatening the nasi lemak seller and another customer because he was admonished for not wearing a face mask in public.
