A total of 5,256 respondents across different age groups, genders and education levels from various industries in Malaysia took part in the July 2017 survey.
Management and leadership team emerged as the main reason employees were unhappy with their jobs, according to a recent survey by online job board JobStreet.com.
The respondents also believed that opportunities for career development were another contributing factor, followed by 'the boss or immediate superior'.
A total of 5,256 respondents across different age groups, genders and education levels from various industries in Malaysia took part in the July 2017 survey.
In a statement, Jobstreet.com country manager Chook Yuh Yng noted that management teams were responsible for leading and motivating their workforce.
"Therefore, organisations must invest in training and development courses for their managers and work on their employees in a sequence, that is top to bottom, because when a good management team is formed, happy employees will follow," Chook said.
The survey found that 52 per cent of respondents were unhappy and felt disengaged within their roles, some even to an extreme degree of discontentment.
Twenty-three per cent felt neutral while 25 per cent were happy and had a sense of appreciation for their jobs. -- BERNAMA
