A total of 131 individuals undergoing mandatory quarantine after returning from overseas have been confirmed as COVID-19 positive, said Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
He said it also reflected the government's actions to quarantine those returning from overseas was the right move.
"The act of requiring individuals returning from overseas to go for quarantine has been shown to inhibit the spread of COVID-19 and to restrict the emergence of import clusters," he told a COVID-19 daily (non-health) media conference here today.
Ismail Sabri said that as of yesterday (April 24), 209 quarantine centres had been operating compared to 204 the previous day, with 16,633 individuals undergoing mandatory quarantine.
In fact, yesterday 1,794 Malaysians returned home and were required to undergo compulsory quarantine.
According to the records, 19,945 Malaysians returning from overseas have been quarantined since April 3.
Since April 17, a total of 6,778 individuals have completed the mandatory quarantine period and were allowed to return home.
