The majority of AstroAwani.com (English) readers appreciate the significance Federal Territory Day, which is slated as a public holiday for those in the federal territories of Kuala Lumpur, Labuan and Putrajaya.

According to a survey conducted on Saturday, 44.59 percent voted that they appreciate the significance of the day. 36.49 percent don't care while 18.92 percent said they don't appreciate the significance of the day.

Kuala Lumpur was turned into a Federal Territory in 1974 and Labuan on April 16,1984. On February 1, 2001, Putrajaya became Malaysia's third Federal Territory member.

Despite that, some Malaysians are still not aware of the historic significance of the day and just treat it as another holiday without appreciating it.
