Married couple die in accident involving car and motorbike

A married couple was killed after their motorcycle was rammed by a Perodua Kancil car before colliding with a parked trailer, at Km 106.5 of the North-South Highway heading South, here at 6.35pm Tuesday.

Kuala Muda district police chief, ACP Md Zukir Md Isa, said the motorcyclist, Hanizar Abdul Hamid, 44, and his wife, Zaitun Awang, 38, who was riding pillion, died on the spot.

"Both Hanizar a general worker at a school and Zaitun, a factory worker, suffered severe head injuries," he said.

The bodies of the two victims were sent to Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital here.

"The woman who was driving the car, Teoh Chen Ming, had light injuries on the head and was treated at Metro Hospital here," he said.
