Marriott Bonvoy launches year-long 'Malaysian Kitchen' culinary campaign

KUALA LUMPUR: Marriott Bonvoy hotels and resorts across Malaysia have launched "The Malaysian Kitchen," a year-long culinary initiative celebrating the country's diverse food heritage.

The campaign, which debuts during the Ramadan season, brings together chefs from Marriott properties to showcase authentic Malaysian dishes, preserving traditional cooking methods and flavors.

“Malaysian cuisine is a true reflection of our nation’s diversity and heritage. With Malaysian Kitchen, we aim to bring this culinary magic directly to our guests,” said Ramesh Jackson, Regional Vice President for Indonesia & Malaysia at Marriott International.

The initiative spans multiple Marriott Bonvoy properties, with each hotel highlighting a signature dish deeply rooted in Malaysia’s culinary traditions.

For example, at The St. Regis Kuala Lumpur, Executive Chef Norazizi Taslim presents Nasi Lemak Ayam Rendang, staying true to a family sambal recipe passed down through generations while W Kuala Lumpur’s Chef Anas Luqman prepares Ayam Percik, a Ramadan bazaar favorite, grilled over charcoal to achieve its signature smoky aroma.

Other featured dishes include Beef Satay at The Ritz-Carlton, Langkawi, inspired by the famous satay vendors of Kajang, and Char Koay Teow at Penang Marriott Hotel, where Chef Lee Keen Suaan emphasises the importance of "wok hei," the signature smoky essence of the dish.

Chefs at Renaissance Kuala Lumpur, Aloft Kuala Lumpur Sentral, and Perhentian Marriott Resort & Spa will also contribute signature offerings such as Nasi Ayam, Sarawak Laksa, and Nasi Kerabu, respectively, ensuring a diverse representation of Malaysia’s culinary landscape.

“At the heart of Malaysian Kitchen are the stories behind these iconic dishes – the memories of family gatherings, the nostalgia of childhood flavours, and the tradition of generational cooking techniques,” said Masri, Senior Area Director of Operations, Indonesia & Malaysia, Marriott International.

Marriott Bonvoy said the campaign aims to offer an authentic dining experience for both local and international guests, maintaining traditional flavors and cooking methods while serving high-quality ingredients.

Diners can experience "The Malaysian Kitchen" at participating Marriott Bonvoy hotels and resorts across Malaysia throughout 2025.
