Marriott Hotels opens its first resort in Perhentian islands

PERHENTIAN ISLANDS, Malaysia: Marriott Hotels, renowned for its portfolio of over 30 hotel brands under Marriott Bonvoy, unveiled its latest gem, the Perhentian Marriott Resort & Spa, on Perhentian Kecil Island in Terengganu, Malaysia.
Nestled within the Perhentian Island Marine Park, this marks the brand's inaugural presence in Terengganu.
Marriott International Area Vice President for Malaysia and Indonesia Ramesh Jackson describes the opening as a key milestone in Marriott's expansion journey.
"Perhentian Marriott Resort & Spa not only marks our first presence in the Perhentian islands but also our debut in Terengganu and the East Coast of Malaysia," said Jackson in a press release.
The resort's design draws inspiration from the East Coast, paying homage to the South China Sea's allure and the region's cultural heritage.
Perhentian Marriott Resort & Spa offers 200 deluxe rooms and 17 villas, each strategically positioned to maximise views and privacy while blending seamlessly with the island's natural landscape.
For those seeking adventure, the resort's Dive Center promises a unique underwater experiences, while the Beautiful Terengganu Arts, Crafts & Cultural Centre offers insights into local traditions.
Dining options range from locally inspired dishes at Dapur to coastal dining at Sekoci, ensuring a culinary journey for guests.
The resort's event spaces, including a grand ballroom and flexible function rooms, are ideal for weddings and special occasions.
General Manager of Perhentian Marriott Resort & Spa Anne Busfield emphasised the resort's commitment to exceptional service and contemporary design, promising guests an unforgettable experience immersed in Malaysian hospitality.
“We are very excited to welcome guests to Perhentian Kecil, an island within Terengganu’s Marine Park as rich in natural beauty as it is in local culture and tradition, offering visitors a unique glimpse of Malaysia,” Busfield said.
