MAS leadership begins employee engagement on the company's future

A meeting was held between Malaysia Airlines (MAS) leadership, representatives of its employee unions and other associations on Monday to inform and engage its employees on the restructuring of the national carrier.

In a statement, MAS said that the restructuring process will be long and requires all parties to come together for it to succeed.

“While there are still many details about the future which will be forthcoming, Malaysia Airlines is committed to working closely with all its employees and airline partners throughout this process following the principles of fairness, transparency and compassion,” it stated.

It had been earlier reported that the MAS Employees Union Peninsular Malaysia (Maseu), which is the carrier's biggest union, will support the airline’s “complete overhaul” plan.

MAS has eight unions and associations which represents more than 20,000 employees.

The national carrier’s shares were suspended on Bursa Malaysia last Friday when it was announced that Khazanah will take the airline private and delist from Bursa ahead of the “complete overhaul.
