At 12 am tonight Malaysia Airlines (MAS) becomes part of oneworld, adding one of Asia’s leading airlines to the global airline alliance aims to be the first choice for frequent international travellers.
Minister of Transport, Datuk Seri Kong Cho Ha were present at the Gala Dinner at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, representing the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak who could not make it for the event.
In Najib’s speech read by Kong Cho Ha said the cooperation will help Malaysia to attract tourists to the country in conjunction with Visit Malaysia Year 2013.
“Malaysia Airlines membership in the oneworld is in line with the ETP and represents a significant upgrade to further boost the image of Malaysia in the commercial aviation industry,” he said.
Besides that, Najib in his speech expressed his fondness for the usage of the number ‘one’.
He said, the digit ‘one’ has a significant meaning to the country as it represents the campaign to promote unity, 1Malaysia.
Meanwhile, MAS group Chief Executive Officer, Ahmad Jauhari Yahya said the cooperation would provide better revenue boost for the airlines.
