An unemployed 19-year-old Mat Rempit was sentenced to four days' jail and fined RM5,000 by the Magistrate's Court here on Monday after he pleaded guilty to riding his motorcycle in a dangerous manner.

Magistrate Noorul Fhaiez Mohd Nayan ordered Mohammad Zulhairi Mohd Isa, to serve the sentence from Monday and ordered him to serve another three months in jail if he failed to pay the fine.

The court also ordered his driving licence to be revoked and barred him from applying for a new licence for the next two years.

Mohammad Zulhairi was charged under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for riding a motorcycle in a dangerous manner by doing a 'superman' act, which was stretching both his legs to the back, an act which endangers himself and other road users.

He committed the offence on the Duta-Ulu Klang Expressway between 5.10 am and 5.25 am on June 5.

In the same court, a dispatch rider Anas Malik Johari was fined RM5,300 in default three months' jail after pleading guilty to displaying fake registration number plate on his Yamaha 125Z motorcycle at Jalan Dang Wangi, here on July 2.

The charge under Section 108(3)(f) of the Road Transport Act 1987, carries a maximum fine of RM20,000 or jail not more than five years.

Traffic prosecuting officer Inspector Hashimah Hashim prosecuted in both cases, while both the accused were not represented.
