A teenager believed to be a 'mat rempit' was killed when a motorcycle he was riding collided with a car during an illegal motorcycle race in Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah here early today.
In the 4am crash, Muhammad Zulhilmi, 19, from Sungai Siput, near here died on the spot.
Following the collision, the motorist, Thean Weng Sin, 21, was set upon by a group of 'mat rempit' and assaulted.
Perak Traffic Police Investigation and Enforcement Department deputy chief, DSP Mohd Mahiri Hussin said the body was sent to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital where Thean also sought treatment for head and body injuries.
Meanwhile, a motorist was killed when his car collided with a Perak Transit bus at the 41.8km Jalan Ipoh-Kuala Kangsar, about 30km from here this morning.
Mohd Farhan Razali, 24, from Kuala Kangsar died on the spot in the 8.30am crash. He sustained head and body injuries.
Sungai Siput police chief Supt Abd Fatah Abd Rahman said the incident occurred when the victim who was driving a Perodua Myvi from Ipoh, lost control of the vehicle and entered the opposite lane before crashing into the bus.
He said the impact of the crash left Mohd Farhan trapped in his wrecked vehicle.
Bus driver, Abdul Samat Abu Hashim, 55, sustained a fractured little finger, conductor, N. Krishnan Vanni, 57, sustained a broken right hand while two bus passengers were slightly injured in the accident.
They sought treatment at the Sungai Siput Hospital.
