Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) president Mohamad Sabu has been barred from entering Sarawak.
According to the party’s Communications Secretariat, Mohamad was barred following a directive from the Chief Minister’s office.
“He and his aide arrived at Sibu Airport around 10.40 am and was stopped when going through Immigration checks, “said a brief statement from the secretariat.
The statement also said that Mohamad is in the process of being sent back to Peninsula Malaysia.
Speaking at a press conference later, Amanah vice-president Datuk Mujahid Yusof Rawa questioned the decision and called on Sarawak Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem to review the move to prohibit certain politicians from entering the state.
“He didn’t cause any ruckus. Why was he barred?” he asked at the Parliament lobby today.
Before this, several members of Parliament including Tony Pua, Teresa Kok, Nurul Izzah Anwar, Zuraida Kamaruddin, Rafizi Ramli and Tian Chua were barred from entering the state.
Attempts to call Mohamad for a reaction were futile.
