KUALA LUMPUR: Maxis Bhd has rolled out a campaign called "Balas Budi dengan 4G" which aims to support and assist customers in preparing for the eventual network transition to 4G.

The telecommunication service provider said it has been proactively engaging and communicating with its 3G customers of all three segments -- mobile consumers, mobile enterprise, and machine to machine (M2M)/ Internet of Things (IoT) enterprise -- to gradually upgrade to the 4G network before the year-end.

"The campaign essentially encourages existing 4G users to help their parents, families and friends who were still on 3G devices to quickly switch to 4G devices, including how to have easy access to 4G devices," it said in a statement today.

Chief sales and services officer Patrick Er said the retirement of 3G is being done with a customer-first mindset and the company is fully committed to assist its customers every step of the way.

"We also call on our 4G users to encourage their families and friends who are still on 3G, to start switching to the 4G network and device so that no one is left behind," he said.

Maxis also said it has exciting promotions and device bundling offers, including its Zerolution plan and RM1 device plans with affordable monthly commitments for customers who need to upgrade to 4G phones.

"While the 3G sunset will not affect current Maxis 4G users, they should enable Voice Over LTE (VoLTE) on their devices," it said.

VoLTE, which was launched in October 2020, is an advanced technology that delivers crystal-clear sound over voice calls across the Maxis network, reduced background noise and the ability to surf at 4G speeds even while on a call.

Customers could call at 123 or visit https://www.maxis.com.my/en/faq/network/mobile/3g-sunsetting/ for more information on 3G network sunsetting or to request assistance with the device migration, while Maxis Business customers could approach account managers directly or dial 1919 for assistance.
