950,000 units later, Mazda starts production on the fourth generation MX-5. By Jerrica Leong
The world’s best-selling two-seater sports car is now in production! Work has finally started to make the MX-5 a production car at the Ujina Plant No.1 in Hiroshima. Since the introduction of the MX-5 in 2014, everybody has been waiting with bated breath for this brilliantly stylish sports car.
As of January 2015, Mazda is proud to announce that production of the previous generations of the MX-5. The company hopes that the fourth generation will continue to bring them more success.
Unfortunately for the international market the first batch of MX-5s to roll out of the Ujina Plant are spec-ed specifically for the Japanese market. Sales of the MX-5, known as the Mazda Roadster in Japan, will start in June. Overseas sales will follow after that.
