MBSA to assist 2,000 burger stalls in Shah Alam
The Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) is working with a private consultant firm to assist the estimated 2000 burger stalls in the city. According to the firm's initial survey there are about 2,000 burger stalls selling an average of 300 burgers a day with the sellers coming from all walks of life including civil servants, private sector workers, school and university students. "We didn't realise there were this many burger stalls here when the firm told us the figure. It clearly shows that there is a high demand from the people," Shah Alam mayor Datuk Mohd Jaafar Mohd Atan told Bernama. MBSA is prepared to assist the burger sellers, who are mostly unlicensed, to operate their business in a more systematic way and provide them with training on food preparation, hygiene and waste management. "We want them to achieve a professional level and expand their businesses. We also want them to operate in more suitable locations," he added.
