MCA not closing its service centres

Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA) president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek clarified it is not closing its service centres for good, but instead, it was just "adapting" to the new political scenario.

"Our service centres, which are also known as the Pusat Perkhidmatan Wakil Rakyat and Pusat Penyelaras Barisan Nasional, will see a change of name in order to adapt with the present situation.

"This is because some of those centres are no longer represented by the MP or ADUN in that area," said Dr Chua during a media conference earlier today.

It was reported that several MCA Service Centres have been closed since the party posted one of its worst performance in a general election. The centres reportedly closed include the ones in Klang, Pasir Gudang, Batu Gajah, Taiping, Kampar, Temerloh and Lumut.

Nevertheless, he said that MCA will continue to be a "service-orientated" organisation for the people regardless ethnicity or background.

“Why are people questioning that MCA Service Centres are closing when other party such as DAP doesn’t even have a service centre for public,” he said.
