Johor State Executive Councillor Datuk Tee Siew Keong has been suspended as MCA member for three years effective immediately for accepting the post.
MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek said Tee, who also held the post of national organising secretary was replaced by Perak MCA secretary Datuk Tan Chin Meng.
He said the decision was made unanimously by the party's presidential council members who met today after reviewing the party's disciplinary committee suggestion to suspend Tee for defying party order to decline government posts.
"However, he can appeal after receiving an official letter on the decision," he told reporters after chairing the MCA presidential council meeting here today.
On June 14, Tee announced his resignation from all MCA posts including national organising secretary, Johor MCA election steering committee deputy chairman and Pontian MCA division chairman, retaining only his lifetime membership.
The Pulai Sebatang state assemblyman was appointed the Johor Exco in charge of Tourism, Trade and Consumer Affairs by the Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar.
On the proposal of merger of all Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties, Chua said the party would leave the matter to the special team responsible for the party's transformation, to study it further.
