Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) is working together with the police in investigating the “Chandra Lawan Tetap Lawan” Facebook account which insulted Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
MCMC chairman, Datuk Shahril Tarmizi said that speculations should not be made in relation to the issue as it may affect the investigation process.
“Accordingly, the MCMC has asked all parties not to make any speculation on this issue which could affect the investigation and interfere with the sanctity of the institution of the monarchy,” he said.
“At the same time, MCMC would also like to remind the public not to cloud the situation more by spreading any unverified information on social media as it might provoke tension in multi-cultural Malaysia,” Shahril said with the hope that those involved will be given strict action.
The video that went viral on Facebook and WhatsApp, depicted a graphic accident where the victims face photoshopped with the face of Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah.
The picture had incited anger amongst many people and more than five police reports were made since Tuesday.
However, the account holder on Wednesday posted that an imposter had created an identical page which was now been taken down and asked for action to be taken against the imposters.
