MCO: 246 individuals detained, 91 from entertainment centre activities - Ismail Sabri

Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said among those arrested were 91 individuals involved in entertainment centre activities.
KUALA LUMPUR: The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) detained a total of 246 individuals in violation of the Movement Control Order (MCO) nationwide, yesterday.
Of those, 236 were compounded while 10 were remanded.
Senior Minister (Defence Cluster), Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, said among those arrested were 91 individuals involved in entertainment centre activities.
"A total of 84 individuals were detained for failing to provide equipment to record customer details and 44 individuals were detained for not wearing face masks.
"A total of 23 individuals were also detained for failing to comply with physical distancing and four others for other offences," he said in a statement today.
At the same time, he said a total of 76 illegal immigrants (PATI) and two skippers were detained, besides eight land vehicles were seized in Ops Benteng.
"Ops Benteng involving PDRM, Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM), Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (APMM) and Malaysian Border Security Agency (AKSEM) are carried out to strictly control the country's borders in an integrated manner from PATI to curb cross-border crime as well as prevent the spread of COVID-19 epidemic," he said.
Ismail Sabri stressed that the government will not compromise with any party who tries to enter the country's borders illegally.
Meanwhile, he added, the PDRM-compliant Operations Task Force also conducted a total of 44,501 inspections to monitor and enforce compliance with the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) SOP.
