MCO: 249 violators detained - Ismail Sabri

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 249 individuals were detained by the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) for flouting the Movement Control Order (PKP) in the past 24 hours.

"Of that number, 248 were compounded and one individual was remanded.
"Among the offences are disobeying the MCO order including 132 individuals who failed to comply with physical distancing, 63 for not wearing face masks and another 54 failed to provide equipment to record customer details," he said in a statement here on Saturday.
Regarding the Compliance Operations led by PDRM, Ismail Sabri said, a total of 47,811 inspections were conducted to monitor and enforce compliance with the standard operating procedures (SOP) of the RMCO.
He said a total of 2,777 Compliance Teams involving 12,489 members monitored 3,549 supermarkets, 4,761 restaurants as well as 1,794 hawkers, 1,144 factories, 3,321 banks and 548 government offices.
"Monitoring is also done at 962 land transport terminals, 245 water transport terminals and 111 air transport terminals," he said.
He added Operation Benteng (Op Benteng) managed to detain 46 illegal immigrants (PATI) and two skippers as well as seizing eight land vehicles.
"A total of 118 Roadblocks (SJR) were implemented yesterday involving Op Penawar and Op Benteng," he added.
