KUALA LUMPUR:Cross-state movements throughout the country are not allowed at all following the implementation of the Movement Control Order (MCO) which comes into effect on Wednesday, said Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
He said, for the six states placed under the MCO category, cross-district movement is also not allowed at all.
For states under the implementation of the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO), the Prime Minister said, social activities are allowed, subject to strict SOP compliance.
"Following the ban on movement across the state and district, the roadblock operation (SJR) will start in effect at 12.01 midnight, Wednesday, January 13, 2021.
“For states under the MCO, your movement is limited within a 10 kilometer radius only.
"For the purpose of buying necessities from the supermarket or grocery store nearby, only two members of the household are allowed to go out and be in the same vehicle," he added.
Earlier, the Prime Minister said the six states categorized under the MCO are Penang, Selangor, Federal Territories (Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, and Labuan), Melaka, Johor and Sabah.
He said the six states categorized as Conditional MCO (CMCO) are Pahang, Perak, Negeri Sembilan, Kedah, Terengganu, and Kelantan, while the two states under the Recovery MCO (RMCO) are Perlis and Sarawak.
The Prime Minister said the MCO would take effect for two weeks from 12.01 midnight Wednesday, until January 26, 2021.
To reduce the risk of infection, he said, social activities involving mass gatherings such as weddings, conferences, religious parades including Thaipusam, meetings, seminars, courses and group sports are prohibited.
Apart from that, Muhyiddin said, the MOH will make a continuous risk assessment to decide whether the implementation of the MCO will be terminated or continued before the two-week period ends.
In the meantime, the Prime Minister said, during the implementation of MCO, eateries and hawker stalls are allowed to operate only for take away services.
As for the CMCO and RMCO areas, he explained, both are allowed to operate as usual according to the SOP that has been set, while the food delivery service throughout the country is allowed to operate as usual.
"Supermarkets, health services including clinics, hospitals and pharmacies; as well as banks are allowed to operate in MCO areas at a vigilant level. Comply with the SOP when at these places such as putting on a face mask correctly, observe physical distancing and use hand sanitisers frequently.
"If there is no immediate or urgent need, there is no need to leave the house. Stay at home," he added.
