MCO: Cuepacs assures public service delivery system will run as usual

KUALA LUMPUR: The Congress of the Union of Employees in the Public Service (Cuepacs) has assured that the public service delivery system will continue to run as usual in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOP) set, following the implementation of the Movement Control Order (MCO).

Cuepacs president Adnan Mat said he was confident that the concept of working from home (WFH), which had been applied since March last year, would ensure that the country was not paralysed despite the implementation of MCO in some states.

"All civil servants have by now understood and are ready to perform tasks based on the WFH concept. For states involved with Conditional MCO (CMCO) and Recovery MCO (RMCO), the directive to work in the office and WFH are subject to the rules set by the government.

“Cuepacs hopes that all department heads will always comply with the instructions issued by the government in organising the tasks of their respective staff. All directives must be based on the set guidelines so as not to risk civil servants working in the office or on the field," he said in a statement yesterday.

Earlier, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin in his special address announced the implementation of the MCO in six states and regions, namely Penang, Selangor, Federal Territories (Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan), Melaka, Johor and Sabah, for a period of 14 days from Jan 13 to Jan 26.

Six other states - Pahang, Perak, Negeri Sembilan, Kedah, Terengganu and Kelantan have been placed under the CMCO, while Perlis and Sarawak will be under the RMCO.
