The G1 and G2 class contractors are allowed to operate in order to continue the renovation work of homes which had to be terminated due to the implementation of the Movement Control Order (MCO) from March 18.
Senior Minister of Infrastructure, Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, said before proceeding with the abandoned renovation work, the contractor, however, had to first apply for an operating permit from the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI).
“Home renovation work is usually done by G1 and G2 class contractors which mean small contractors.
“One of our conditions is to allow G1 and G2 contractors to operate as they are small and do not involve many workers.
“But the important thing is that they have to apply to MITI and get approval. Once approved, they will be able to continue working,” he told a press conference on the standard operating procedure (SOP) under construction during the Movement Control Order (MCO) here on Wednesday.
Fadillah added that the contractor would also have to comply with the SOP that was enforced to prevent the transmission of COVID-19.
