MCO: Gradual opening of construction works to avoid risk of COVID-19 transmission

Addressing the media on the standard operating procedure (SOP) for construction during the Movement Control Order (MCO) here on Wednesday, he said projects allowed to operate throughout the MCO were from 13 categories.

"(It includes) projects that do not require much work on site, such as building projects with IBS score of 70 and above, and maintenance and construction works that have achieved 90 percent physical improvement," he said.

Among the projects allowed, he said, were critical work to ensure the safety of construction structures such as slopes, tunnels, bridges and viaducts and land surveys.

“It also includes maintenance, cleaning and drying work from the site to prevent mosquito breeding and pests.

"Additionally, all professional services are included as they are required for project management and supervision, including approving payments for construction work progress," he said.

Fadillah added that construction work carried out by G1 and G2 contractors to enhance economic viability for small companies was also included in the 13 categories.
