Ismail Sabri said the government also thanked the people for their support in carrying out the MCO until April 28.
The government has recorded its appreciation to all Malaysians for being patient and complying with the Movement Control Order (MCO) entering its third phase today.
Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the government also thanked the people for their support in carrying out the MCO until April 28.
"Today begins the third MCO. Therefore, the order and sanctions will continue for another 14 days. The government is grateful to the people for their continued patience and support for the government to continue the third MCO, even though we have been tied with the MCO one and two for a month.
"I represent the government in thanking the people who are complying with the MCO and we expect about three per cent who have not complied to obey the MCO directives," he said at a press conference here Wednesday.
He also praised the commitment shown by the frontline task force.
"Thank you also to the frontline personnel, comprising doctors, nurses, police, ATM (Malaysian Armed Forces), hospital staff, APM (Civil Defense Force, RELA, UN, fire department, Prison Department, media personnel and all involved in assisting the government in breaking the COVID-19 chain.
"Similarly, thank you to the behind-the-scene workers, including cleaning workers," he added.
Thus, to ensure that Malaysia 'wins' in the fight against COVID-19, the people are reminded to remain at home throughout the MCO.
"I urge you as Malaysians, regardless of race, religion and political affiliation to fight COVID-19 together and wait patiently for the MCO to be over.
"I call on all of you to stay home for your own safety, for your family and for your community," he said.
The First Phase of the MCO runs from March 18 to March 31 before proceeding to the second phase from April 1 to 14. Phase Three is extended from April 15 to 28.
