Ismail Sabri said only those who were stranded in the kampungs were allowed to apply for a return trip to their homes including in the capital.
Those who are in the city are not allowed to ‘balik kampung’ especially during Ramadan, said Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
The Senior Minister (Security Cluster) said that only those who were ‘stranded’’ in the kampungs were allowed to apply for a return trip to their homes including in the capital.
However, he said the matter had yet to be decided and need to be discussed with everyone including the Ministry of Health (MOH).
"Some people have misunderstood this... Those who are in the city and wishes to balik kampung, that is not allowed as many will want to return to their hometowns for Ramadan. So, there will be no movement from the city to the kampungs at this time.
"As I mentioned yesterday, any party who has been trapped in the kampung after the government implemented the Movement Control Order (since March 18), they are the ones whom we may allow to return (to the city),” ha said at a press conference here today.
Ismail Sabri said those seeking to travel outside the district would have to apply through the GerakMalaysia application or to the nearest police station starting April 25.
"The purpose is for us to gather clear information on the number of people who want to travel from their kampung to Kuala Lumpur or any other city.
"After we get the information, we will submit it to the MOH, the Royal Malaysian Police and the National Security Council (MKN) for discussion.
"If all parties agree to allow this movement, we will provide stringent standard operating procedures (SOPs) on how to ensure there is no major movement to the capital," he said.
