MCPF proposes special court for drug cases
The MCPF will draft a memorandum to Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to be tabled in Cabinet.
The Malaysian Crime Prevention Foundation (MCPF) has called for a special court on drug offences to be set up.
Its vice-chairman Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye said to realise the proposal, the foundation would be informing MCPF committee members of the matter before it was forwarded to the top authorities.
"If all agree, we will draft a memorandum to Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to be tabled at the Cabinet," he said after opening a Seminar on Crime, Drug and Social Problems, Our Joint Responsibility, here Saturday.
Also present were Terengganu MCPF chairman and Alor Limbat assemblyman A. Latif Awang and Terengganu police chief Datuk Rosli Ab Rahman.
Lee also said MCPF would be increasing its programmes for school students to provide awareness and reduce their involvement in crimes.
He said last year, 1,851 cases involving students were reported compared to 2,073 cases the year before.
