The Multimedia Development Corporation (MDEC) has requested to open an office in the Silicon Valley, says Chief Executive Officer Datuk Badlisham Ghazali.
He said the request was made to the government was part of MDEC's wish list in the coming Budget 2014.
"This is to facilitate greater cross-border or international linkage for our information technology entrepreneurs to go abroad and bring back the necessary expertise or competency into Malaysia," Badlisham told a press conference after opening the MSC Malaysia Cloud Conference here today.
He said MDEC already had international representatives in Silicon Valley, as well as, in Japan, London and South East Asia to bring in buyers into Malaysia.
"We are also putting in our proposal for a big data initiative as part of the wish list for Budget 2014," he added.
