Magistrate Mohamad Firdaus Sadina Ali set bail at RM4,000 with one surety and fixed July 7 for mention.
A mechanic pleaded not guilty in the Ampang Magistrate's Court here today to a charge of hitting an on-duty policeman with his car two weeks ago.
Muhammad Daniel Hariz Sahir, 21, was charged with using criminal force against Lance Corporal Mohammad Azlan Luhi, 27, who was riding a motorcycle, when the accused struck him with his Nissan Latio car.
He allegedly committed the offence along Jalan Wangsa 5B, Bukit Antarabangsa, Ampang Jaya, here at 4am on May 13, and was charged under Section 353 of the Penal Code which carries a maximum prison sentence of two years or with fine or both, upon conviction.
DPP Norhashimah Hashim offered bail at RM5,000 with one surety.
Counsel Abdullah Sani Zaiman who represented Muhammad Daneil Hariz requested for a reduced bail amount on the grounds that the accused had just started working as a mechanic after graduating from college.
