Universiti Antarabangsa Al-Madinah (Mediu) today hit out at irresponsible quarters for claiming that the university encourages extremism among its students.
Its Student Affairs Department head, Bibi Asma Sher Mohamad said such a claim, and also that linking the next-of-kin of Mediu officers with the Daish militant group were made with malicious intent.
She described as baseless a report on the matter, which quoted an unnamed source and was published in an English Language newspaper.
"Such accusation and allegation, which are baseless, can be dangerous because of their malicious intent.
"If they know who among us is involved (in Daish militant) why not divulge the person's name," she said when contacted by Bernama.
Meanwhile, Mediu Foreign Affairs Deputy Rector Datuk Dr Ab Ghani Mohamad reiterated that there was no syllabus or deviant teaching taught at the private institution, including Wahabi, as was reported by the newspaper.
If it is true that the Daish ideology is spread among students in the country, the militant group would surely target several other universities with international students, and not only Mediu, he added. -- Bernama
