MELAKA: Pakatan Harapan (PH) Youth has accepted the decision of the coalition's top leadership to nominate former Melaka assemblymen Datuk Seri Idris Haron and Datuk Nor Azman Hassan in the coming Melaka state election under PH tickets.
PH Youth chief, Howard Lee Chuan How however admitted that there were among PH members who did not agree with the decision with strong conviction.
"I do not want to state my personal stand as this is not the proper platform but it is clear there are quarters who disagree with Pakatan Harapan.
"Nonetheless when a decision has been made with consensus, it should be accepted and for me, it is the Melaka voters who will decide whether the decision is correct and we will not precede the decision of the people in Melaka," he said in a media conference here today.
Yesterday, PH chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in his announcement said Idris would be standing in Asahan, which is a traditional PKR seat while Nor Azman will stay in Pantai Kundor, a Parti Amanah traditional seat.
Lee said he himself felt there were talks and negative narratives arising from the decision but it is considered normal and common in an election.
"For me what is important now is that we deliver what Pakatan Harapan is offering and to bring the Pakatan Harapan administration agenda in Melaka (if we win)," he said.
Earlier, Lee said PH Youth welcomed the decision of PH Presidential Council in fielding individuals from the youth wings of the coalition to contest in Melaka election with more than 35 per cent or 10 out of the 28 seats in the assembly.
Among the candidates are Muhamad Danish Zainudin, 25, who is standing in Pengkalan Batu, while Leng Chau Yen, 37, (Bandar Hilir); Mohamad Asri Ibrahim, 35, (Lendu); Law Bing Haw, 40, (Machap Jaya); B. Prasanth Kumar, 27, (Rim); and Farzana Hayani Mohd Nasir, 21, (Sungai Rambai).
EC has set polling day for Melaka state election on Nov 20, nomination day on Nov 8 and early voting on Nov 16, following the dissolution of the State Assembly on Oct 4 when four assemblymen withdrew their support for Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Ali.
