Melaka has scored a first by becoming the pioneer in Asia to introduce smart meters to measure electricity consumption.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Idris Haron said RM50 million had been allocated to replace the old meters with the new ones which would take some five years.
"The state government is in the works to form a collaboration between Tenaga Nasional Berhad and Melaka ICT Holdings Sdn Bhd (MITCH) for the purpose," he said.
He was speaking to reporters after the weekly state executive council meeting here Wednesday. -- Bernama
