Sarawak Political Analyst, Prof Madya Dr. Jeniri Amir, in his writing has said that Tan Sri Adenan Satem was a very articulate person.
“He is famous for his speeches which are delivered in a relaxed way, matter-of-factly, infused with jokes and straightforward. The language he uses is simple, and short.
"When he speaks in English, he has the ability to be expressive, using impressive idioms,” said Dr. Jeniri.
Every time Adenan gives a speech, the audience will pay full attention because he uses simple language with elements of humour so that he does not bore the audience.
Every time he speaks, there is an important message he wants to send to the people and the authorities. Everything he does is for the good of the Sarawak people.
Below is an excerpt of Adenan’s speeches.
“After Kuching, we hope the UTC facilities can be expanded to other main cities, as well as the rural areas, in our efforts to help the people. We are confident Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak can take this into considerations, as it is in line with his commitment to elevate the standard of living, especially for those in the rural areas.
“Instead of wasting money for my birthday ad, it is better that they use the money for welfare and to help the poor.”
“I would like to thank the Chinese entrepreneurs who have played a significant role in the development of Sarawak.”
“If we compare Sarawak with Johor and Pahang for example, over there they have everything, roads, electricity and enough water. But in Sarawak, we still have children who walk bare-footed to school.”
“If in two years, I managed to make 53 decisions that benefit the people of Sarawak, what more if I were given 5 more years.”
“We’ve tried our best to bring development to the rural areas but it’s not enough.. We will do more.”
“July 22nd declared a public holiday to commemorate great sacrifices in our past struggles culminating in the establishment of self-government for Sarawak.”
“Sarawakians comprise Malays, Chinese, Dayak, Bidayuh who sit together, drink together, eat together, and find girls together."
“Sarawak cannot be a government without the Malays, Ibans, Chinese, Bidayuh or Orang Ulu.”
“We need to deliver our old promises before making a new promise.”
