The incident took place at 7.50 pm at the Malindo Air counter.
A bomb threat at the Sultan Abdul Halim Airport (LTSAH) yesterday was made by two disgruntled Turkish citizens after their baggage were found to have exceeded the weight limit.
Kota Setar District Police Chief ACP Mohd Rozi Jidin said police received a report about the incident which took place at 7.50 pm at the Malindo Air counter, where the duo wanted to board a 9 pm flight to Subang.
"The duo, aged 23, and 28, were unhappy when told their baggage exceeded the weight limit and their dissatisfaction worsened when their overture to a passenger at the next counter to help carry the balance was rejected, due to different flight and destination.
"They then told the passenger there was a bomb in one of their bags. The passenger alerted the personnel at the counter on the threat, who contacted the LTSAH security," he said in a statement.
He said police arrested the duo but released them at 1 am today. They had valid visit passes and came to Kedah on a cultural programme.
