UMNO Youth leader Khairy Jamaluddin said it is not a problem for a woman to administer a state or a country.
He said, he personally felt that some women make better Menteri Besar or even Prime Minister, adding that their menstrual cycle is just a small matter.
“Personally, for me, there is nothing wrong with women being Menteri Besar or even Prime Minister. The reason given as to why they cannot become the MB is because they cannot accompany the Sultan for religious functions then. But that is not the MB's only job MB,” he said.
“To me, women are more qualified to be the MB or even PM, just not that woman. But, that is up to the Pakatan Rakyat,” he added.
Khairy was commenting on UMNO legal and constitutional expert Datuk Hafarizam Harun who had said that Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail may not be the Selangor MB because of her menses.
Hafarizam drew the ire of Malaysians on the social media over the statement, which was published on the New Straits Times (NST) today.
