With the current critical health condition that has been plaguing the citizens of Gaza, Mercy has joined the bandwagon to assist there.
“The need to restructure especially matters related to health, it is quite crucial for us to look into the health in Gaza as well as NGOs to get involved to discuss the things that require support with,” said MERCY Malaysia Executive Council member and team leader Norazam Abu Samah to Astro AWANI.
He said, the lack of medication may be a hindrance particularly during times of crisis.
Said Norazam, Mercy has donated RM200,000 to Gaza, which will be used to purchase medical supply there. The Cairo-bound delegation led by Norazam left Kuala Lumpur at approximately 6pm today.
In the latest development, Hamas is committed with a fragile five-hour truce to enable humanitarian aid to enter Gaza.
The five-hour ceasefire is the second proposal made by Egypt. The first ceasefire proved futile after Palestine viewed it as biased.
Since Israel launched Operation Protective Shield on July 8 to stamp out rocket by Gaza fighters has killed 231, many of them women and children, and one Israeli.
Israel has carried out more than 1,750 attacks in Gaza, most air strikes and fighters have fired more than 1,400 rockets, 1,048 of which have bombarded the Jewish state.
