The ASEAN Defence Ministers Conference conducted in Honolulu, Hawaii applauded Malaysia for its effort in the Search and Rescue (SAR) operation in finding MH370.
Defence Minister, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein said, the collaboration of 26 countries in the mission proves that the Malaysian government has been fulfilling its responsibility though facing an extraordinary mission.
The conference agreed that the disappearance of the aircraft is a bizarre situation never experienced by any other country in the world.
“What happened in the MH370 case is an unusual situation which has never been experienced by the world. Thus, the aviation industry as well as matter concerning military and defence must be relooked again,” said Hishammuddin during a carnival held at Masjid Tanah Parliamentary constituency in Lendu, at the RELA South Province Training Centre, Sungai Udang.
He said, all of the ASEAN Defence Ministers agreed that the aviation industry in the region need to be re-evaluated and more advanced technology are needed.
Meanwhile, the government is confident that the black box of MH370 can be found even though its signal has one day left before its batteries run out.
Hishammuddin said, at the moment the SAR effort is focusing on finding the black box believed to be around the Indian Ocean, which is the last location the plane was detected.
“I am impressed with the efforts of other countries in helping in this mission when I received a call from UK Defence Minister saying that a nuclear submarine has already reached the searching location. Ships from China are also on their way there.
“We also have aircraft and ships that are being considered to be sent there to add more asset as announced by the Australian Prime Minister. This shows that we have not given up hope in finding MH370. I hope all Malaysians will continue to pray so that we will get a positive sign in this operation,” Hishammuddin added.
