MH370: Cabinet to decide on experts in international probe

Acting Transport Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein said that the move to form the investigation panel, made up of experts worldwide, will prove transparency of the Malaysian government.

“This will show the world that Malaysia has nothing to hide,” Hishammuddin told reporters at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) here.

Hishammuddin, who was attending the Defence Services Asia Exhibition and Conference 2014 (DSA 14) also said that Cabinet, which discussed this matter today, will also decide on the number of people who will be appointed into the panel.

“It should be built up of people who are respected, credible and make decisions and investigation without fear or favour,” he added.

Aside from the independent international panel, Hishammuddin said the government will also be setting up a Royal Commission of Inquiry and a Parliamentary Select Committee on the matter.

The developments resulting from the international probe will be announced to the media from time to time, he said.

Meanwhile, Hishammuddin also said that Malaysia will not be scaling down on the search and rescue, though some of the other 26 countries might be doing so.
