MH370: Compensation matters being discussed by MAS, families and legal teams
MAS Chief Executive Officer, Ahmad Jauhari Yahya
Malaysian Airlines (MAS) is discussing compensation matters with few legal teams and families of those who were on-board the missing flight MH370.
MAS Chief Executive Officer, Ahmad Jauhari Yahya however said, what is being demanded by the families for now are evidences saying that the plane is missing, and not cash.
"So far what is being asked by the families are solid evidence, meaning that they want evidence of the aircraft. That is why we are doubling up the search efforts, so we can track down the plane," he said during a press conference at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC), Friday.
Meanwhile, Acting Transport Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein said the government is going into details on the matter, based on the Cabinet meeting's decision on Thursday.
He said the government is taking into account its aspects and legal effects.
After it was confirmed that the aircraft's journey had "ended in the southern Indian Ocean" by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak in his announcement, matters of compensation started to arise.
239 passengers and crew of flight MH370 were on board the aircraft when it went missing during its journey from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing on March 8.
