The family members of one of the passengers on-board Malaysia Airlines (MAS) MH370 flight, Firman Siregar, still believes that Firman is safe and not in the Indian Ocean.

According to a report by an online portal tempo.co, Krisman Siregar and Herlina Panjaitan, parents to Firman Siregar, were sad upon receiving the phone call and short message servise (SMS) from Malaysia Airlines (MAS) which said that the flight was missing and had ended in the Indian Ocean.

They are however unconvinced with the news.

“After three weeks of waiting and hoping, we only receive this sad news. But we do not believe the report given by the Malaysia Airlines and the statement by the Malaysian Prime Minister, " said Krisman.

They believe and hope that as long as the wreckage is not found in the southern Indian Ocean, their child is still alive and safe.

“We are unconvinced that Firman is lost in the Indian Ocean. We assume that he is still safe and is currently in China,” added Krisman.

Krisman and Herlina refused the offer to be flown to Australia however, they are still awaiting for an official report and evidence showing that the aircraft is in the Indian Ocean.

The Malaysia Airlines (MAS) MH370 flight enroute from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing was reported to have fallen off the radar on March 8, 2014.

On Monday, Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak confirmed that the aircraft had ended in the southern Indian Ocean.
