Malaysia is committed to working with its international counterparts and the Malaysian International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) Annex 13 Safety Investigation Team for MH370 to continue with their analysis on the flaperon belonging to the missing Malaysia Airlines (MAS) flight MH370.
Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai, in a statement today, said it was hoped that the discovery of flaperon at the Reunion Island on July 29 would provide further clues to bring closer to finding the truth.
A month ago, Malaysia had announced that the flaperon discovered at Reunion Island was indeed from MH370 based on confirmation from the Malaysian team of experts in Toulouse, as the technical details of the flaperon match with MAS records.
The French authorities after carrying further analysis also concurred with Malaysia's announcement and have affirmed with certainty that the flaperon was indeed from MH370, he said.
Flight MH370 from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing disappeared from the radar on March 8, 2014 with 239 passengers and crew onboard.
Liow said the government of Malaysia was fully dedicated to fulfil its commitment in the search operations and would continue all reasonable efforts towards this end.
"We wish to once again assure the families of the passengers and crew that the search for MH370 remains a priority," he said.
