MH370: Malaysian probe team arrives in Mozambique - Liow

KEPONG: The Malaysian team investigating the Flight MH370 case is now in Mozambique to identify a piece of debris that was recently found there, which was suspected to be related to the doomed Malaysian Airlines jet.

Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said the arrived on Saturday and they would be speaking to the Mozambican Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) director-general tomorrow.

Liow said details on arrangement for the debris to be flown to which inspection centre would also be discussed tomorrow.

"Our investigation team is now in Mozambique and they will be meeting the Mozambican DCA director-general tomorrow. We will also be discussing with our Australian counterpart as they are also there.

"Initially, the Aussie team wanted the debris to be sent to Australia because the search team is there. The Malaysian government has no problem on where the debris will be sent to, what's important is to identify if the debris belongs to MH370 or not," he told reporters after officiating the new Kepong MCA building here today.

Meanwhile, Liow also urged all parties to stop speculating on the aircraft debris until the verification process is completed.

Flight MH370 disappeared without a trace on March 8, 2014 with 239 passengers onboard, including crew members.
