Police on Sunday said that so far only China and India have cleared their passengers who boarded the Malaysian Airlines (MAS) MH370 aircraft on March 8.

“There are still a few countries yet to send us background checks, but there are some intelligence agencies that have cleared all passengers,” said the Inspector General of Police, Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar.

Speaking to reporters at the press conference at Hotel Sama-Sama, Sunday, Khalid said the direction of police probe continues to veer in the direction of a deliberate act by someone as crucial information revealed on Saturday showed that 'someone' on the jet had switched off communications systems and its course deliberately changed.

He said “foreign intelligence agencies” have been able to clear the whole passenger and crew manifest of “any negative reports”.

But Khalid said that investigations are still ongoing on all crew and passengers and police are still awaiting reply from other foreign agencies on “all background checks as yet.”

Khalid reiterated the four main areas of police focus into the investigation of the missing aircraft; hijacking, sabotage, personal problems, and psychological problems.

“It includes ground staff, everybody,” he said.

The new re-focus was based on information that equipments on board the plane was being intentionally turned off and it is understood that police are ‘intensifying the study’.

Meanwhile, asked whether investigators and Malaysia Airlines (MAS) have gone through the cargo, MAS CEO Datuk Ahmad Jauhari Yahyasaid that there were “no hazardous goods” found on the manifest.

Ahmad Jauhari also said that both pilot and co-pilots "did not ask to fly together".
