MH370: Passenger's sons withdraw suit against MAS, 4 others

Senior federal counsel Saiful Nizam Shahrin told reporters that High Court judge Datuk Rosnaini Saub in chambers recorded the withdrawal without any order on costs.

The plaintiffs' lawyer Datuk Dr S. Arunan and their mother Ng Pearl Ming, 39, were present during the proceeding.

Meanwhile, Arunan said the case was settled amicably.

"The matter is finally concluded. Our client, having considered her rights and her legal position had decided to accept the compensation and move on with her life," he said.

On Oct 31, last year, the two siblings aged 14 and 12, through their mother sued MAS, the DCA director-general, Immigration director-general, Royal Malaysian Air Force chief and the Malaysian government.

In their statement of claim, the plaintiffs said their father Jee Jing Hang, 41, a local, entered into an agreement with MAS in the flight from Kuala Lumpur at 12.41am to Beijing at 6.30am on March 8.

They claimed that through the contract, MAS as the first defendant should have taken all necessary steps to ensure safety of the flight but broke its promise by failing to land at Beijing.

The plaintiffs claimed that they had lost their father, a businessman who earned RM16,865 monthly and who was their breadwinner.

MH370 was carrying 227 passengers and 12 crew from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing when it disappeared from the radar about an hour after leaving KLIA.
