MH370: Racist tweet sent by fake Twitter account

Ever since the MH370 tragedy has been at the centre of attention, a fake Twitter account using the Astro AWANI name has surfaced.

For the record, Astro AWANI's official twitter handle is @501Awani which has been used for the past two years. It currently has 169,805 followers to date.

Recently, the fake account @astroawani tweeted a rather racist message, which immediately received negative reactions from the public.

It said, " After 15 days, #MH370 has found. May Allah bless all the crew and passengers who are muslim.”

A screen capture of the tweet went viral on social media, giving a bad image to Malaysia's first 24-hour news channel.

However, the fake account @astroawani has been reported to Twitter and it has since been suspended. However, another account using @astroawani1 Twitter handle has surfaced.
