Police chief Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar today revealed that the log data of a flight simulator game belonging to the missing MH370 pilot Captain Zaharie Ahmad Shah was erased before his flight to Beijing.
Khalid said some forensic experts from Cyber Security, Malaysia Airlines ( MAS ) and also foreign experts are trying to recover the log data.
"What is meant by being deleted is the log data from the flight game. The data was deleted on February 3.
"The simulator that we took had three games: Flight Simulator X , Flight Simulator 9 and Flight Simulator X Light 10.
"The important thing now is the pilot and co-pilot’s family members gave us full cooperation. We have no problems getting any information needed," he said at the daily press conference on the latest development to find flight MH370 at Sama-Sama Hotel, here, on Wednesday.
Khalid added, investigations on the simulator will be continued by forensic experts to search for clues on the missing MAS flight.
On Saturday, the investigating officer of the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) took the flight simulator belonging to Captain Zaharie Ahmad Shah at his home in Shah Alam.
It was then re-assembled at the police headquarters in Bukit Aman to find clues for the missing MH370, which remains a mystery.
On Tuesday, Berita Harian newspaper reported that the airport runway of Diego Garcia is among the top five locations the investigative team discovered in the simulator programme.
Apart than Diego Garcia, other runways in the simulator programme are Male International Airport in Maldives, an airport owned by the United States (Diego Garcia) and three more landing tracks in India and Sri Lanka, all which have a runway distance of 1,000 meters.
